Where We’ve Been: Our Community in Action
Our FemInEM community continues to make an impact everywhere. Check out some of our latest appearances:
Dr. Dara Kass traveled to Boston Medical Center to deliver grand rounds, bringing timely education on early pregnancy care directly to providers. Her session reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting physicians where they are, equipping them with the clarity and confidence to deliver high-quality reproductive care and expanding provision of care in progressive policy environments.
Dr. Stacy Marshall, lead of our physician education project in Alabama, delivered an in-person talk to advanced practice providers across University of Alabama at Birmingham campuses. This expansion demonstrates our commitment to equipping clinicians in restrictive states to provide evidence-based reproductive healthcare within the law and underscores the importance of educating providers at all levels of practice.
Drs. Rebecca Hellman and Jailyn Avila presented at Cornell's Faculty Development Day, leading a reproductive health session focused on early pregnancy loss, a crucial step in socializing the role of emergency medicine in early pregnancy loss care.

We love sharing the stories, experiences, and challenges our community takes on every day.
Here’s what you may have missed:
In Memory of Annalee Baker
I first met Annalee on a street corner in New York City. I was interviewing for a job at NYU and she was a resident. She came up to me out of nowhere: pregnant, tattooed, loud, and all-encompassing energy. She introduced herself and we began to talk. I didn’t know it then, but that moment was the beginning of something that would matter deeply to me.
Flexible Return to Work Scheduling is Essential for All New Parents
Today we are excited to share FemInEM’s next model workplace policy–Sustainable Return to Work Scheduling. This policy recognizes that having a newborn at home turns your world upside down, and adding a full emergency medicine schedule on top of that can lead to untenable chaos, and ultimately burnout. To combat this reality and make the return to our p…

Policy Updates:
Louisiana v. FDA
Louisiana sued the FDA in October 2025 to reinstate an in-person-only dispensing requirement for mifepristone, a drug that over 7.5 million Americans have used safely since 2000. On May 1, the Fifth Circuit sided with Louisiana, temporarily cutting off mail and pharmacy access, before SCOTUS stepped in on May 4th to restore it. That stay only lasts until May 11th, and SCOTUS must still make a fuller decision. FemInEM filed an amicus brief in the case to ensure that the Court hears from emergency medicine providers the true clinical picture.
